You know, strangely enough this entry didn't make me think twice. This probably says more about my familiarity with gelatin and lack of familiarity with perl than I'd like ;)
(And you should be nicer to your ladies. Duct tape! Pah.)
Cleaned the dining room, unloaded the dishwasher, tidied the office, considered vacuuming but decided against it (what with it being 6:30 and all), swept for a while instead, made my bed, fed the cats, showered, and took out a couple loads of garbage.
Drank a cuppa Earl Grey (with milk) with my Lady, then ambled home to log in. On the way home I figured out a better metaphor than "many rooms in a mansion" for the way some styles of memory function, and I'm thinking about how to put that in verse (or paint). In the meantime, in theory, I've begun my day of working remotely.
Cuddled poor sick daughter (allergies have given her chronic cough). Gave her cough syrup, cleaned up the spit-out syrup, gave her fresh. Made a protein smoothie for her for breakfast, because her throat hurt.
Started laundry. Folded previous two loads. Hung up the shirts and pants. Showered. Got dressed. Got Anna dressed, teeth and hair brushed.
Ate breakfast. Made her lunch. Made my lunch. Packed her things for school. Cleaned up my room. Washed dishes, emptied dishwasher. Checked email.
Packed up her immensely fragile homework. Took her and it to school, delivered homework to the classroom. Got in the car to go to work. 8:15 AM.
Not much. Bet that ladle of yours is really clean...
- Practiced my Japanese (I'm on Pimmsleur tape #8) - Ate nasty school lunchroom breakfast sandwhich - flirted with the 70 year old lunch lady (political note: it is always good to be allies with the lunch ladies) - Taught 4 classes - Proctored 3 makeup quizzes - Met with two students for extra help - Handed out prizes for the all-school poetry contest - Wrote a study guide - Wrote a quiz - Fixed a colleague's computer - Graded and entered two sets of quizzes - Printed out progress reports, which I susequently left in the printer so I couldn't hand them out. Sent a student for them later in the day; student returned having been told students are not allowed to take progress reports from the printer. - Signed a birthday card for the department secretary - Made a cashew butter and apricot jelly sandwhich, and ate it - Had my union president call me "toby" for the ninth time - it's getting annoying - Debated with a student about Shakespeare's daughter's lineage - Rewrote a portion of the script for the upcoming faculty show so I don't wind up saying "suck" on stage in front of the entire student and parent body - Rescheduled my writing group
And this was all before 11:55 AM.
Welcome to high school teaching.
On the downside, I go to bed each night before 10. :(
