(no subject)

Naturally, my iPod becomes definitively broken not long before I take a lengthy car trip. Its data is fine, and it functions normally controlled through the I/O port, but the control surface is entirely unresponsive, so if I take it in the car I can't, say, make it start playing (I could make it stop by pulling the power, of course). So that's nice.

I believe that this kind of loose connection is relatively common, and that, if you don't want to open up the thing and do surgery for some reason, it's possible that there's a "stealth recall" or warranty extension on this problem.
