Smile time isn't free...

We went over to [livejournal.com profile] ladysprite and [livejournal.com profile] umbran's place this evening to have a mini-marathon of the last four Angel episodes, as we'd gotten severely behind. They were all quite good, but the last one... If you are among the few who cares and does not already know, this is The Funniest Episode Ever, and good in other ways as well. Joss actually paying attention to the series this season has had the usual effect of marked higher quality writing, and this week's was one of those so-absurb-it-only-works-for-Joss themes that compares favorably with Buffy's best episodes. Go, watch.

Such as also being the creepiest episode so far this season.

New catch-phrase around the house is "...adb by dose comes off."

The teaser was possibly the creepiest moment on Buffy or Angel EVER.

Really loved it, definitely vintage Whedon (puppet/master reversal! brilliant). I disagree about the season as a whole, though; while it's had some terrific eps, at times it feels like they had a great IDEA for an episode, but the dialogue still often falls flat unless it's Drew Goddard or Whedon himself or one of the other really good writers.

LOVED "Smile Time," however.

"Is there a Geppetto in the house?"
