Everything too cold

Hmm. Sluggish response of new apartment's heat could be due to almost no water in furnace. Filled it up, with a rich, brown fluid not unlike water. Should possibly tell the landlord it needs to be blown down. Or maybe it's normal after a long stay without being filled, and the crud will settle back out.

Also, refrigerator is too cold if Brita freezes in it.

Furnaces with water tanks need to be drained and filled every year. The "crud" can settle to the bottom of the tank, and create problems.

If you filled the furnace, and brown stuff floated, you should drain it and start again. Maybe several times.

The fridge is probably my fault. [livejournal.com profile] tpau had asked me to make sure it was plugged in and on, which it was, but it didn't feel cold yet so I cranked up the temperature thingie so that it would cool off and be ready for food faster. And I probably forgot to tell either of you I had done so...
