I haven't heard anything about this, but everyone must know about The Fountain. I mean, a historical/modern/sci-fi film with Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz by the director of Pi? Coming out next month?

I knew about it; we might not be hearing buzz because it's getting poor reviews. The apple trailer is exciting and beautiful, though, and if only for the visual impact I still want to see it.

Rotten Tomatoes reports it getting mixed reviews.

Well, good that you knew - bad that it may not be fabulous. I wondered how I could have missed your posting about it, but when I view the entry the image doesn't load and is off to the side, so I actually spent 30 seconds trying to figure out why you were linking to that page, since the film was not in evidence. That may be the reason that I did not see it before...

Ah: strange bandwidth/hotlinking issues prevent the image from displaying consistently. In response to your post I updated the image's ALT tag. Bad developer, no bisquit...

The film looks gorgeous. It might be as dopey as all that, but I'll still see it.

Heard about it ages ago, due to the graphic novel version of it being in the comics catalogues. It was based on the screenplay, and I gather served both as a partial marketing tool, and as a "What would we do if we had no upper limit on the SFX budget?" exercise.

Haven't actually looked into it more, as I'm not a particular fan of any of the folks involved. (Nothing against any of them, just nothing terriby *for* them, y'know.)
