May Day

Yesterday was SCA May Day. I expected it to be mediocre because of the weather, but was pleasantly surprised when a perfect spring day slipped out from behind a cloud. Very little organization is ever put into the event by its autocrats, but there was a lot of fun schmoozing and such. There were also a couple of fairly interesting tournaments (greatsword is more interesting to me than sword & shield), a huge game of Hurling, an alright Commedia performance (sorry [livejournal.com profile] cristovau, I think the show had lots of good bits like the hungry Arlecchino, but some of the individual performances were awful. I would not place the blame at your feet, however, in light of previous performances by the same actors), and a lot of dancing. I haven't really done dancing in a while, so it was interesting to do almost every dance at an event again. In all a very entertaining day, especially considering how much of it I spent just sitting around.

No apology needed

Given under three weeks of practice and the general craziness surrounding my first directorial debut, I'm happy with "an alright Commedia performance." I am even happier that it's over and I can get on stage again. This professional show at the BCA will be fun. It's one of my favorite scenari and I'm Arlecchino again, after years. Expect pure mania.
