argh

So I'm a tremendous They Might Be Giants fan.

I repeatedly managed to miss their free concerts at the Hatch Shell, though many of my friends went and told me how great they were. I am not aware of them planning to have any more anytime soon.
Four years ago my housemates had extra tickets to a TMBG show, and wound up giving them to someone who barely knew the band because they strangely failed to realize I liked them.
Last year TMBG had a free concert at Brandeis, not two miles from my house, which was reputedly awesome. I of course had a commitment which could have been scheduled for any other time, had I but known in advance.
Yesterday [livejournal.com profile] tpau and [livejournal.com profile] msmemory happened to be near the Baltimore harbor just in time for TMBG to pop in and do yet another free concert.

They are definitely playing in Boston at some point on the tour that starts in July. Looking at the dates confirmed so far I have a suspicion that the performance here might be during Pennsic war week. That seems in keeping with my record.

Did some research for you

As nearly as I can tell, TMBG will be on the West Coast during Pennsic. They have no dates confirmed yet for Boston. At least according to their web site.

(Which site has to be inarguably annoying. Why is it that big entertainment industry types think there has to be all sorts of loud-and-noisy graphics creep and animation for a site to be interesting and attractive?)

Well, I had noted that they will have made it through most of their target cities by the 13th, the last scheduled show. Given that they hit the western shore at that point it seems most probable they will fly back to hit NY, NJ, etc., quite possibly immediately thereafter. If they do that then the tour would be just wrapping up by the time Pennsic ends on the 22nd.

For some reason I don't find their site all that annoying. Maybe because after it's loaded you can generally get to their content without jumping through very many hoops.

How odd, I didn't know there was a band. I had thought you had meant the wonderful George Scott movie about a judge who thinks he's Sherlock Holmes. I'll go find some of your band's music - you should consider seeing the movie.

Very droll. I actually haven't seen the film (or the original play), though of course as a fan of the band I know of it. It's been left somewhat ambiguous whether the band is named after the film or the Don Quixote line directly.

If the concert happens at a time you are not at Pennsic, I will want to attend with you.

Ahhh, TMBG. The cause of the silliest mosh pit I've ever seen. :)
