So, I went to see Cowboy Mouth at the Paradise yesterday. Enjoyable, good music, very energetic - and too damn loud. Ten hours later my ears are still ringing off the hook.

Specifically, my bass sensitivity is about nil. I was listening to Have a Cigar in the car, and regardless of volume I could only hear the refrain. Very trippy. Also, conversation is difficult when everyone sounds like Alvin, Simon, and Theodore.

Damnit. I meant to go but thought it was tomorrow night. I suck. Next time you're in the neighborhood, drop by.

I thought about dropping in, but I didn't quite have enough time beforehand, and it got out relatively late. I'll be at the upcoming party, anyway...

I didn't know you like Cowboy Mouth! I would have grabbed you tickets...

P.S. Hi! This is Andrea.

Earplugs are handy for live music, which is almost always way too loud. They're not just for sleeping at camping events.

I use them in movie theaters, which seem to operate under the assumption that we're all hearing-impaired.

I think I will get some for the next time - I like being able to hear.

(And if they hadn't mic'd the drums...)

Ouch. My ears are still ringing a bit, but I regained my bass sensitivity - and the rest of my hearing - by this morning. Sorry about that, I should have remembered about the drum-mic'ing.

Thanks for coming with me, though. I'm glad you had fun. Also, despite the fact that they gave me the small-size wrist band I was still able to remove it without cutting or twisting it. If only I could find a way to exploit this ability...

Didn't know they were in town, would have gone. I hear they are excellent in concert.

Well... they get the audience very involved, and it's a fun time, but the quality of their live music itself is, IMHO, not fantastic. Once in a while they'll get around to just rocking out, and that's quite good, but they spend so much time working on the audience that I did occasionally wish they'd just play more music.
