I *love* Waffle House, but sadly you won't see many of them north of the Mason-Dixon line. Back when driving to Texas was something I did (and sentences like "let's go to Pittsburgh this weekend" or "wanna drive to Toronto tomorrow?" were spoken), I made a point of hitting up as many fast-food and regional chain restaurants as possible that can't be found in the upper Midwest.
