Jan. 27th, 2006 03:06 pmgood thing wardriving's so easy these days, because this laptop's all i've got left. i was at a console when i heard the unmistakable sound of door splintering under a heavy boot -- i hit the magic key combination to nuke everything and bolted for the other exit. i grabbed the laptop bag as i spun around the corner, and came nose to nose with one of the bastards who'd just knocked down my back door. for a quarter of a second we stood there, both surprised and neither one moving. then i swung the basement door open into his face and half fell, have slid down the stairs, catching the edge of the ceiling just enough to right me at the bottom... i knew they'd be rushing in from both sides in a second, so i jumped and kicked off the furnace to knock out the loose window in the corner and hit the yard. forgot i was carrying the laptop bag, and it nearly killed me when it got stuck in the frame, but i spun it loose and rolled away from the first guy. an ibook-weighted atemi to the second guy's head gave me the chance to run flat out for freedom. i knew then that they didn't want me dead, since i wasn't gunned down on the spot; that left the entirely less pleasant thought that they wanted me alive. i got one piece of luck: they didn't know my friend eric lived right across the street, and i had a set of keys to his miata. over the fence, into the car, out and away. figured i'll need it more than eric will.
i can't write for long, i know they'll find me again unless i stay three steps ahead. to those of you who know who you are, the balloon's in the air. if i've been targeted no one's safe, so scram now. i'll try to meet you at the usual time and place.
