Mar. 20th, 2007 05:51 pmWell, that was a full weekend+
In the early hours Thursday morning I woke up viciously sick with a stomach bug, which was being set off by the abdominal muscle contractions of my lingering cough. I went to work for a couple of hours to wrap things up for the release due that day, but at lunchtime my boss told me I was insane and sent me home, after which I slept more or less straight through until Friday morning. Since we had to start planning the *next* release that day, I dragged myself into work again, somewhat healthier but still green around the gills and just barely able to eat. Left early, swung by the house to pick up some stuff for the weekend, and headed down to Dorchester... which turned into a three-hour trip through a rush hour snowstorm, livened up by the intermittent possibility of deadly collision.
On the plus side, once I arrived I got to spend a relaxing evening with
rickthefightguy and
tamarinne, as well as the usual fun Melville residents, and get some decent rest before the next morning.
Saturday, you see, featured the Masque of the Twelve Goddesses, for which I needed to do various dancing, singing, and a negligible amount of acting, as well as get cars dug out of their plowed in condition, put together mountainous set pieces, etc. All things which would have been a lot more fun if I hadn't been congested, nauseous, and largely unfed for the previous 48 hours. Nonetheless, I think the show came off alright, and though my performance wasn't perfect I made it through acceptably.
After that it got easy, and we had a big afterparty that ran on and off from sundown Saturday to sundown Sunday, with various changing sets of people. And by dim sum time on Sunday I was back to able to eat and completely ravenous, so that worked out quite well. Gaming canceled for the week due to general high level of burnout all around, so I went back and had a quiet Sunday evening at home. And now the show's over and I'm completely relieved and only a little bit at loose ends about what to get overly committed to next...
