i know i be gettin' this round off more'n harf past late, but i's still awake, an i's still a jolly, an i hain't lettin' no couple o' hours keep me from me custom'ry post.
tho' my platin' were a bit shoddy sin the war, which were th' las' time i did spar wit me fellows, i wen' out on this eve to fight in good spirits agin. i were in bad form an i did get battered, but i did pay back them scallawags in kind. when we was through, tho' it were not early, me mate had some of us over to drink deep o' grog an pass time wit good comp'ny, an we did till th' time an th' grog were good an past. tha's how we celebrate this day.
five years ago this day did i start keepin' this journal, an i've changed an ye've changed an th' world hain't changed atall but that turnglobe keeps on turnin' an turnin', an nothin' can stop the way it goes aroun'.
still, th' night is young an so are we. we may be as rank as can be, but i still spit fire, an i say we hain't far from seen the biggest battles o' our time. so drink deep me 'earties,
yo ho
