Nov. 10th, 2008 09:15 amAbout six months ago, I heard a song on the radio that got stuck in my head. Only it took long enough to notice it was stuck that I couldn't go look it up on the radio station's Last Played Songs list. Or even remember which station it was. And since I was listening in the car and not really paying attention, I only remembered the catchy refrain, which as best as I could recall went "awa-a-waa-ahh, [something] waa-aah-wa-ah". As you can imagine, that sort of thing is very hard to find using Google.
Only that little bit of the song stayed stuck in my head for months, occasionally resurfacing. I kept hoping I'd hear it on the radio, but to no avail. I thought I heard a snatch of the melody as an NPR background clip, again when I wasn't really paying attention, but I couldn't find it when I went back through their broadcast online. Maybe I was imagining it. With the internet at my fingertips I've grown unaccustomed to this kind of information lack, and a small part of my brain kept piping up "wa-a-wa-a" and being frustrated.
At some point that small part of my brain moved on, though. Which made this morning the perfect time to hear it again on the radio.
It's Good, by Better Than Ezra.
