doing time in lifeland

There was a time when I could be at home and have nothing to do. I just realized that even if I don't want to touch my profusion of projects or necessary Life tasks, the existence of a large backlog of reading material, a Tivo, a pile of unplayed computer games, and, the eternal fallback, the internet, I am unlikely to reach this state anytime soon. It's true that I could want none of these things, but the variety means that this only happens when I am struck by pretty heavy malaise, which goes well beyond being at loose ends.

This is by way of noting that it is late, I should be getting to sleep now, the break went by far too fast, and I am as of yet in no way sick of having some unscheduled time. Unfortunately, the next time I get a sliver more is in about 144 hours. Maybe I can resist counting the minutes.
