Later on Friday I went to Man Ray for the first time. It was reasonably entertaining, but primarily because I knew a bunch of people there. It's unlikely to be a regular thing for me. Got to bed around 4.

Saturday I slept late, worked on some Secret Projects (not Super Secret, just not ready yet), and spent the afternoon/evening at [livejournal.com profile] dsrtao's birthday party, which was a lot of fun - and a lot of good food. Mm, chili. Got to bed around 3.

Today I went to cook's guild, which was mainly a research discussion this month, and from there to [livejournal.com profile] herooftheage's gaming get-together at the Buttery. Came home and watched Reservoir Dogs. Was rather unimpressed. Allegedly graphic violence was tedious, and mostly offscreen, enough that I didn't think it was even particularly suggestive. Got to bed at, hmm, well, certainly not before 1.

Not really, and no. There was no complex prep involved, I just wore black. So, no more goth than usual.

I agree; for all the talk about Reservoir Dogs I was left unimpressed as well. After all the buildup, I admit to being quite disappointed.

I think seeing RD after seeing Pulp Fiction hurts RD a lot. There are a number of things in Reservoir Dogs which are done well and are intersting and innovative. They're just done so much better in Pulp Fiction.

Interesting. I really intensely disliked Pulp Fiction, far more than Reservoir Dogs. I saw PF first. People told me that I might enjoy RD even after my reaction to PF. It didn't happen.

Yes, I know I'm the one who invited you, but it's not actually my gaming get together - it's much more a group-owned sort of thing. Any of the regulars in that room last night would have felt free to invite a guest: the general rule at those things is "the more, the merrier".

Anyway, I'm glad you had a good time, and hope you decide to drop by again every now and then.

Gaming night

Your wife tells me that you play Go. I have recently learned to play Go, and it's really the board game that I am most interested in right now. Rumor has it that Go was once played at board-gaming nights. Evidently this hasn't happened in quite some time, unless you count me sitting alone at a board and working through Go puzzles. I'm currently searching for Go partners.

Just a thought. Or several, actually...
