Among other things snagged* from dkapell and knobhdy when they moved was a mobile dishwasher, which is way nifty. It provides both a handy place to keep dirty dishes AND an extra countertop in our horizontally-challenged kitchen. They said something about it having more features, as well, which I look forward to discovering.

*Although in this case "snagging" involved an annoying amount of work on my and dkapell's part in unpleasant heat, including balancing the appliance on my crotch.

Yeah, when I moved into River street and got a dishwasher in the same hand-me-down method, I almost broke asdr83's nose trying to get it into the truck. Made a trip to the hospital and all; they said there was nothing to be done for it except ice for pain and swelling. I'm rather impressed she stayed with me after that. It was also when I determined that a dishwasher was high on the list of appliances that any new apartment would have, right below fridge and stove. *grin* On the plus side, I was able to sell the old dishwasher to the last landlord so he could use it as a barganing point with new tenents. Should you ever need to move again, may you be as fortunate.
