Just to be clear, what we have right now coming from the sky in Boston, that is what a torrent is. I drove through hubcap deep water on the way home.

I had a long, busy day at work, after which I rushed off to do the live Chicken Heart et al performance (I was in the et al part), getting delayed about 40 minutes by the rain (which was, of course, a drizzle compared to what we have now). It went pretty well, and several people put in pleasantly surprising appearances.

Once I was wrapped up there I threw together my minimalist costume for [livejournal.com profile] pax_industria and [livejournal.com profile] jezebelpussycat's early halloween party, where I met several new and interesting people.

And then, of course, I made the dangerous trek home. Several times my car was completely surrounded by its own wake for well above its height.

I know it's been raining all week, but this is the sluice thrown open. This simply cannot continue through tomorrow.

What is that logo? The NE/RV thing?

It's from an anime: Neon Genesis Evangelion. NERV is a kind of creepy psuedo-military organization with giant robots fighting against angelic monsters who are invading NeoTokyo in the far future. It's motto is "God's in His Heaven and All's Right With the World."

What she said. The image has deeply ironic connotations, at least for me. Unfortunately in the LJ sized icon the motto is illegible.

That's right - challenging the Powers That Be, and telling them what can and cannot be, has such a wonderful track record of success :)

Well, I don't know how things looked in Boston after 8 AM, but from down here in CT it looks like I won.

In Boston, it continued to rain well into the early anfternoon - and possibly later, as there wereseveral hours during which I was far enough indoors to not know.

You won? Dude, hubris is unbecoming. Say things like that, and the Powers That Be, via Mr. Murphy of the famous Law, shall lay upon you a smackdown. :)

There are no powers that be, only cold chaotic systems about which I can gamble by making predictions. If the rain ran down to nothing by noontime, I reckon that I won. There's no triumph over nature here, just betting the right way.

So it was you! [livejournal.com profile] citabria and I were wondering why it was still raining in Ashford on Saturday around noon, and demanded to talk to whoever was in charge. I told her, wisely, I felt, that she didn't really want to bother him or her.
