That was a rather busy weekend. Saturday we went to CT to see
tpau's family, which meant rushing around trying to get all their gifts arranged properly, as well as incidentally breaking my computer. We also went to see The Two Towers again with
tpau's brother, and I guess some aspects really worked more for me this time, although most of my issues from the prior post are still annoying.
Some more modern language also struck me this time: "I'm not LISTENING!!", "you keep running him down all the time", and, worst by far, "nice fish and chips". And, a note to battle choreographers: swordsmen who charge into a line of spears do not gallantly hack through them. They die. Alot.
Sunday we visited my family, with a very similar scramble to get everything organized and finished.
tpau and I exchanged presents Sunday evening, since any time seemed semi-arbitrary (and she didn't want to wait). She got me a really splufty leather jacket, which should soon be featured in a picture here. It is warm enough that I can wear it in this weather and be comfortable, which is remarkable.
I think after today we are actually, mostly, almost done with holiday Stuff. I mailed out a couple of last minute things, and a bunch of cards (so much later than I meant to...), and I spent most of the day cleaning the house, with which
tpau also helped when she got home, so the place is looking decent again. As an afterthought I managed to fix my computer today, too, by hacking around with the firmware (Open Firmware is actually really awesome, by the way). I didn't realize how deprived I felt after only two days. Better now, happy OS X goodness.
