I have a lot of very nice friends. I'm kind of overwhelmed.

It looks like I am most likely to be moving, probably Septemberish. I don't know where yet; I'll still be commuting to the Waltham-Lexington border, so something in the general vicinity would be preferable. I'd also prefer to split a place, just for economy of scale, but everyone who I knew was looking for housemates seems to be all set now. Oh, well, living alone wouldn't be the most efficient thing, but it wouldn't be the worst.

When you're getting divorced every song pushes your buttons.

[livejournal.com profile] liamstliam took a great picture of me during Saturday's blazing hot fighting. GNEW in general was pretty keen, if soupy with humidity. No rain, thankfully. Acceptable levels of carousing.

I should really start planning my Pennsic schedule. Let me know if you want to hang out at some point, or if you know of (especially) interesting stuff I should make it to.

It's funny that the Tivo is our most contested asset. Not very contested, but less replaceable and less divisible than most.

Work this week has been dominated by working out our new pair programming paradigm. It's decidedly weird, and feels very Extreme, but I'm beginning to really appreciate its benefits.

I don't know what I'm up to, after Pennsic. I have a big lack of long-term plans (aside from moving).

So if you're stuck, we have a guest room. I'd turn it back into a rented room and take you as a housemate in a flash, of course, but it sounds like you don't want to be on this side of the city.

As for interesting stuff at Pennsic, I am still reading Don Quixote to our merry band at 6 every evening, starting the middle Friday. It is likely that anytime you showed up, you'd be at least plied with food and drink.

Seconded. You are cool enough to well worth the "two Alex's in one house" confusion :-)

I'm not stuck (yet, I suppose), but even given the location it's a tempting offer. I will be in touch.

Hey. Haven't had the chance to say something as I'd been hoping to find you on AIM to do so, but I want to know that I'm thnking of you and am sorry to hear about your impending separation. Let me know if you'd like to get together some time and talk.

When my uber-ex and I split up after 5 years of living together and much joint stuff-acquisition, a lot of "who got what" was resolved by us looking at an item together and thinking objectively about who would be less likely to be able to afford to replace it and/or who would get the most use out of it. It ended up working out okay, although no system is going to be perfect. I got some DVDs that he apparently regretted letting go later on, but he got the 32" Sony Wega we'd purchased together, the logic there being that I almost never watched broadcast TV, but loved movies and could always watch them on my computer...even though I am still far less likely to be able to afford a new TV any time soon.
*hugs* What you're going through sucks. If you need any help with anything, let me know. I may even have a car to help move stuff by September. :)

I'll be spending the next two weeks single myself, if you want to get together and do something.

Nice photo - it looks less sullen than your other armored-up pic. Yes, I'd like to hang out at Pennsic. Um, not to sound petty, but you guys won't lose track of my book in the Great Divide, please? It's out of print now.

The Ivankiad is safe, and will hopefully get back to you before the physical division (though still far too late to be called a timely return).

It's true, the old shot is at rather a downer moment - I like it, but it's not happy.

Totally the wrong part of the world for you, but I believe The Buttery currently has an opening. You also might want to fire something out on Carolingia, Carolingia fighting, and Intercon lists, just to see who's got a lead.

If we didn't have a second tivo already, sadly, that would be our most contested possession, too. (Not counting the cat as a possession-- she would be a custody issue)

(there is GREAT liberty in having your own tivo, by the way :-) )

Maybe you guys could split the cost of a new (or refurbished-- mine is refurbished) tivo, w/or w/out lifetime service? I feel like someone has probably suggested that already.

We were under the impression that lifetime subscriptions could no longer be bought. Otherwise it's totally replaceable.

I hope everything resolves with little conflict.

Apologies for the circumstances, but mean-people, which is in Davis Square, is looking for a roommate to start in September, if you're interested. I'd vouch for them in a heartbeat; they're MIT folk that you probably know or know of (though no SCAdians), and if you'd like more info, just email me at my old mit address. Everyone in the house commutes to either Waltham or Lexington, so it should be commuter-friendly. They have an ad at http://boston.craigslist.org/roo/184524463.html.

I will have to look you up at Pennsic since a) this is my first time going, and b) I know less than a dozen people there, so friendly and familiar faces will be a nice change! :)

Quacheri (Plot E18), I am staying with Dkap from 8/9 or 8/10 to some time before 8/19 (I am still trying to figure out a ride back so my return dates are up in the air).

I imagine that your divorce will have some difficult aspects, but be, as divorces go, on the easy side since you guys neither own a house, nor have children. None-the-less I am one of your friends who has been through a divorce, and can lend some friendly insight as to the things you'll be feeling, and how to handle them.

I'm not going to shove myself into your life to blurt these things out to you, but if you'd like to have dinner some night for some private conversation, please let me know, and we can try to schedule something.

well alex.
you are more than welcome to come down and take a look at my place.
rent is cheep and i have tivo and wirless. It's in webster but right off 395 so it's really not that bad, especially considering traffic in worcester ususally takes as long as the car ride to worcester.
drop me an email. The room is open now. and if you wanted to stay for a while free thats fine too.

Seeing as there are probably 50/50 odds of my ending up in your camp, that may be easier than I thought...
