Good day. Got a lot done at work, hot water again functional, and had a totally rocking time at Cirque.

So I've been looking forward to this show since [livejournal.com profile] coraline described it (a year ago? two?), and it was indeed fantastic. It's a kinda Edwardian nightmare danse macabre commedia del arte classic circus. It's got midgets on balloons, it's got shoes that stumble around by themselves, it's got a storm of chickens - it's got pretty much everything except the more annoying sort of clown several of the previous shows have fallen prey to. It starts with four girls doing striptease chandelier trapeze, and manages to maintain almost that level of excellence throughout. Other notable stuff included a superb old-school trapeze act, a phenomenal seesaw routine, and a pair of contact acrobats who would I think give [livejournal.com profile] danceboy ideas for months. As [livejournal.com profile] komos pointed out beforehand, they do a much more in-the-round setting with this show than in the past, as well.

It did not hurt that I was sitting in the front row, and thus had performers literally brushing against me at times. I could see when one of the parallel-bar boys mistimed and kicked another in the head (no reaction at all), and I could receive bubblegum from a cute performer I was flirting with. I don't tend to think the tradeoff of cost for value is good in sitting in the front row, but this was a very good show to sit up front for.

Well worth your time, even being able to rest your feet on the stage.

I still haven't seen a live Cirque show.

Lucky you!

Clock isn't interested, and tix are usually expensive for that right?

Depends on what you call expensive. You can get them as low as $25 for obstructed view, but I'd expect to pay around $50 for a nice seat. I certainly pay more than that for big arena rock shows.
