Well, Intercon happened. Also, a week ago, we finalized the baseline prototype of Project. The latter's going great; the former was fun, though by no means an unqualified success. Of the two games I ran, one worked out significantly better than the other, though neither was a failure in absolute terms. I played in 2.5 games (the fewest yet), of which one was quite enjoyable. In general a good social time, but such a huge amount of work and stress that I just feel immensely burned out.
For 2-3 weeks I've been eating badly, sleeping badly, and counting each minute that I took doing something unavoidable but distracting from getting work done. Important lessons garned from this include that coffee is an ally (though never a friend) in the fight against sleep, that a hot shower can replace a night's sleep, but probably not two, and that if you mark days by when you sleep and wake you'll get really messed up when a week goes by with only napping. Oh, and also that it was unconscionably stupid of me to spend months pushing off work of all kinds and painting myself into a corner, majorly screwing myself over and minorly my friends.
The worst single day was twelve hours work, ten hours writing, another twelve hours work, with all of those being creative high-energy hours. I have very, very little interest in doing that again. But, on the plus side, I seem to have survived, and I have rarely appreciated more the sensation of watching a movie and thinking "what do I need to get done tonight?... right, nothing at all."
Despite four or perhaps five hours of sleep this weekend, it was only a couple of minutes ago that I started to feel genuinely tired. Nevertheless, tomorrow's got its own fair share of work, so I think I'm going to bury the hatchet with sleep.

Date: 2007-03-05 03:32 am (UTC)You knew Intercon would provide stress to go with the fun, and you did look like you were having fun at times.
It was good to talk to you and inflict music on you.
