Caught up on the current season of Doctor Who. Interesting stuff.

Jack coming back is cool, but the chemistry seems somewhat off. I don't yet like either the new doctor or the new companion as much as the last, really, and it's been some time for each.

I was wondering how long it'd be before they pulled out the Master, but I was rather hoping there'd be more to it than this became-a-human gimmick. Ah, well. Derek Jacobi could have made quite a good villain, given more than 5 minutes to work in. We'll see how the new guy does.

At least the speculation about Saxon is over. There's been blatant foreshadowing the whole season. Unlike most long-time fans (I started with Dr Who during the Tom Baker era), I didn't see The Master coming.

I think Martha is wonderful, but her relationship with the Doctor is going to be strained as long as she "loves him to bits" and he's still mourning the loss of Rose.
IMO the scene with the Doctor and Jack having a heart-to-heart but jokey conversation while Jack was in the radiation room was probably the most
chemistry-filled of the season. Considering the fact that the relationship picked up (from Jack's perspective) 120 years after they last saw each other, they're doing pretty well.
