... This Sconey interloper has taxed our patience long enough, my long-faced compatriot. His smirching of native virtue with highland politics rankles, his fiscal profligacy destabilizes, but by far the worst his antipathy for our papal kind threatens our very survival. Where we have failed in the Main, and by and Bye, is through plots too lengthy, too large in persons, and at once too small in thought. Were an intent few to act with alacrity, striking out the full corpus of this hateful man's governance at a stroke, they could surely rock parliament explosively.
Are you pondering what I'm pondering?
- Well, I reckon so, Bob, but surely they'll notice old Betsy's not alive?
