Memorial Weekend (with [livejournal.com profile] tpau at Balticon):
Met with [livejournal.com profile] laurion and [livejournal.com profile] dkapell about the game Thursday night, lots of good LARPish things bubbling to the surface, some of them even for this particular one.
On Friday I got together with [livejournal.com profile] asdr83 for a Greek lunch (including a marvelous Galactobourico) and watched Love Actually. Reasonably funny, a little disjoint. (But hey, it has Emma Thompson and Alan Rickman.) That evening's session of [livejournal.com profile] meta's 3E campaign brought us to a possibly intractable and seemingly fatal position. On the plus side, it's not clear how much longer the campaign will last anyway.
Saturday I went to grath minuet's barbecue (it took me a moment to realize that the don't have LJ handles, since I already think of them by username), after which I was supposed to go clubwear shopping with [livejournal.com profile] londo and [livejournal.com profile] juldea and subsequently hang out. However, they cancelled so I wound up going to see Van Helsing with [livejournal.com profile] rufinia and [livejournal.com profile] 43duckies instead. Fun prototypical action movie, just check your knowledge of Newtonian Mechanics at the door.
Sunday was [livejournal.com profile] alexx_kay's Prisoner marathon. It's still very good and very strange. [livejournal.com profile] jducoeur and I still need to write the LARP at some point.

The next week was fairly typical, and surprisingly wet. For the weekend we went down to CT for [livejournal.com profile] tpau's grandmother's birthday, getting back on Sunday just in time for the Intercon Concom meeting, which was somewhat productive but we really aren't doing much at this stage of things. After that we went to see Shrek 2 with [livejournal.com profile] ladysprite and [livejournal.com profile] umbran at a pretty good combined restaurant and theatre. The film was extremely entertaining, I'd say about on par with the original. And Antonio Banderas's character is remarkably cute.

While we were in CT we also went to see Harry Potter 3, which was a definite improvement over the first two in most respects. Although I think certain plot elements could have been less muddy, the overall storytelling is tremendously better. The closing credits are a nice little touch as well. Again, Alan Rickman and Emma Thompson are involved. Actually, some of the high-powered actors they use are still given quite little to do. I'd kind of expect more from a franchise featuring AR, ET, Robbie Coltrane, Richard Harris, and Kenneth Branagh.

Again the intervening week has not been so fascinating. Brandeis CS BBQ on Tuesday was an interesting chance to see some lapsed friends, though (still bouncing ideas back and forth with [livejournal.com profile] metahacker for The Other Game). Yesterday [livejournal.com profile] morgi flew in (after some heavy flight delays in Cleveland) to visit, so that's nifty. I got to meet [livejournal.com profile] jhandfield, too.

Plan for this weekend:
Tonight, see if we can survive the next 3E session, possibly swing through a party, and maybe go to Rocky with [livejournal.com profile] morgi and [livejournal.com profile] tpau. Or maybe not, I may have been to Rocky enough times.
Tomorrow, write game all day at Brandeis with [livejournal.com profile] londo, [livejournal.com profile] laurion, and [livejournal.com profile] dkapell. Need to get this stuff out of the ether and written down already. Probably dropping [livejournal.com profile] londo off with [livejournal.com profile] juldea and maybe doing something, depending upon how late it is. Most likely going to [livejournal.com profile] lerta's party in the evening.
Sunday, dropping by [livejournal.com profile] herooftheage's in the afternoon to play games and see [livejournal.com profile] patrissimo, whom I have not seen in... a long time. Then off to [livejournal.com profile] dreda's Birthday Thing in the late afternoon/early evening.

Looks pleasantly busy.
