Oct. 2nd, 2007 01:10 pmLast night I lit things on fire and threw them around.*
I was waiting for some backups to run, and our Comcast connection had cut out, and I was too restless to read, and then I remembered that I had those torches I'd borrowed from a friend, and I'd finally got fuel but still hadn't had a chance to use them. So I did some midnight fire juggling. Initially it was tricky because a) unlike normal club juggling you can't see the bit you need to catch, and b) HOLY CHRIST THOSE THINGS ARE ON FIRE, but it only took a couple of minutes to be able to juggle them normally and start doing some tricks. Chops and flourishes obviously look great. I didn't really experiment with body throws, but partly just because throwing higher, and thus with greater velocity, seemed to dim the flames down. Maybe I just need to use more fuel.
Club swinging also works fine with them, of course, and they make that great vwooshing sound, but I don't know much complex to do with that. So, yeah, I should clearly pick up some actual fire kit of my own...
