[livejournal.com profile] laura47 mentioned this, and I am surprised I hadn't run across it before: Larry Wall on... well, Perl, of course, but mostly architecture, poetry, Utena, etc. If you're allergic to Perl you might not be interested. Then again:

How long till Bujold becomes required reading in high school? Far too
long, in my opinion. Horrors. We wouldn't want our students actually
enjoying what they read. It's not--it's not Real Life.

As if the Lord of the Flies is real life. Feh.

Larry continues to rule, or possibly rock.

Having never had any real notion of what Postmodern and Modern and all that actually mean, it was actually kinda informative (and really damn amusing; I like things that make me laugh out loud at work :). It also made me think about the differences between intellectuals and geeks. If an intellectual tried to explain postmodernism to me I'd be fucking lost, but Larry Wall is a geek and his explanation made sense. Maybe because I get all of his references. Especially Utena. Damn that series rocked my socks.
