Social Musings

I am so listless. Today I spent ~5 hours cleaning the house, not that it is done yet... then I had to go to the Office of Social Security because they lost my name change application. It was a lot easier to re-file than I expected, given that it took about 9 hours arguing with them last time. (They wanted me to prove my name was one I have never used... an unexpected bonus of being a literal bastard).
Then I went and did SCA stuff at MIT. Mostly what I actually did was talk to people a lot, trying to satiate my recently starved need for social interaction. I think I need more friends I just generally hang out with. I know lots of other unemployed people who are pretty much in the same boat, but we never get together. So now I wonder: hypothetical normal people have a set of friends they regularly hang out with, just sort of randomly spending time at each others' houses, etc. with no special activity. Do real people actually do this? Maybe I'm lacking the right kind of friends, because I really can't think of anyone I could just drop by and hang out with.
