Whether I have gotten much sleep or little, waking abruptly is a lot less pleasant than gradually. If possible, after being woken abruptly I will try to catch at least a minimum of extra sleep, say five minutes, to retroactively fix the manner of my awakening. I'm not sure why this works, except for the vague notion that I need to clean out my desk in slumberland. Anyway, that's what I didn't manage to do today.
