I just finished the last episode of Cowboy Bebop. Very fitting conclusion, but totally hardcore blues. Reminded me again how stunningly good the show is; I was specifically surprised by some of the subtler symbolism, e.g. blood running into the eye.
A while back I was thinking that although I had seen a lot of entertaining anime, very little of it struck me as good art (in the broad sense, although the drawing of much of it was middling as well). Maybe Evangelion (though I should finish it now that I have the box set), maybe Ghost in the Shell. Now I would say definitely Bebop.

Date: 2004-06-16 02:44 pm (UTC)You gotten around to watching the best anime series ever... The cowboy bebop movie is not so bad by the way, so consider watching it... basically much like a long (slightly above average) episode...

I've even read claims that it was that story that accounts for the change in Spike's attitude... would have to rewatch the episode to see if there is an observable change in his attitude on the last DVD... hm...
